An invitation is offered to you in this time of stillness.
Constant movement is a comfort to those who cannot be with what is missing. The body moves the mind into a quiet place—a place where it cannot pick apart all that is beautiful.
Beauty inspires suspicion in the wounded, as they are often wary of what promises to heal them.
What pain has you perceiving your kin as the enemy? What would it take to break the brittle cage surrounding you?
How much longer can you deny yourself the nourishing touch you crave, the tender medicine of eyes that melt the walls of your heart?
A portal opens in this time of stillness.
Portals know better than to reveal their secrets to those who pause before them. You pause, listening, trying to predict an outcome which has yet to be determined.
Calculating what cannot be calculated. Trying to figure out what cannot be comprehended.
Portals cannot be comprehended. Only leapt through, only tumbled out of forever changed.
Your sharp mind, a great guardian against change, has kept you safe until now. The mind is a multitool; when wielded well, it can save a life.
Just as easily it risks them. And now, you cut yourself on your own defenses. There is defensiveness, and then there is strength.
You will find true strength in this time of stillness.
True strength is found in the body surrendered, wrapped in the roots of the Wild Mother.
When you partake of water, you are cleansed on Her behalf. When you sing, it is Her voice that travels on the wind. Every strand of your hair is made of fiber woven from the tissues of Her womb; each fingernail carved from a stone peppering Her banks.
When you gaze into the mirror to make sure that you are still there, you are looking for Her.
And when you wake one day and realise that you are in love again, you realise Her.
That pining is for Her. That hiding is from Her.
Only you cannot really hide from Her.
We never leap alone, you see. There is always another set of feet stumbling in free-fall, wondering where the floor went.
There is always another hand to grasp for in the dark.
These hands are a home for your body, for times when home feels forever gone. Remember their grooves and blood blisters, their calluses and skin-stars.
A hand is offered to you in this time of stillness.
Hold it when you leap.
